For any parent, the decision to have a third child comes loaded with questions. How will the newborn gel with their siblings? Will the demands of raising a trio affect family life, and finances?
For Nick and Klara Taussig, from Box Hill, Surrey, the decision was a particularly tortuous one. Their sons, Theo, nine, and Oskar, seven, were both diagnosed in 2014 with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a rare, genetic, muscle-wasting condition. Sufferers are eventually left unable to walk or carry out day-to-day tasks. Median life expectancy is somewhere in the 20s. Soon, the Taussigs’ lives became a stressful blur of medication and hospital
